Tiger senior Krista Prato Matthews of Davis, Calif. (Davis),
has been elected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic
All-America Women's Basketball Team.
Prato Matthews, a 6-foot-1 forward, was
selected for the College Division All-America Second
Team.
An
accomplished student-athlete, Prato Matthews is a biology major,
with a minor in business administration – and will receive
her degree from Trinity in May. She qualified for Trinity's
Dean's List for six semesters and also is a member of the Phi
Beta Kappa honor society.
Prato
Matthews had previously been elected to the d3hoops.com All-South
Region Team, and is a two-time All-Southern Collegiate Athletic
Conference (SCAC) honoree.
On the
basketball court, Prato Matthews is tied for Trinity's career
mark in rebounding, with 978 rebounds. She is tied with Trinity
Athletic Hall of Famer Terri Hailey, who played for the Tigers from
1977 to 1981. Prato Matthews is the SCAC's all-time
rebounding leader. In addition, Prato Matthews leads Trinity in
career blocked shots, with 211, and is No. 2 in the SCAC. Prato
Matthews has scored 1,367 points, which places her fourth at
Trinity, and in the top 15 in the SCAC.
A
multi-sport student-athlete, Prato Matthews was elected to the
National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-America Scholar
Team.
The Academic All-America
program is conducted by the College Sports Information Directors of
America (CoSIDA).
