Box Score San Antonio - Four former Tiger runners had blistering performances in San Antonio's Rock 'n' Roll Marathon on Sunday, Nov. 14.
Emily Loeffler, a four-time cross country and track and field All-American, finished third overall in the women's race with a time of 2:54:18 - a pace of 6:39 per mile - in her first race over ten miles. Despite being in fifth place with less than 7 miles left in the race, she rallied to a top three position in the closing miles. Loeffler is currently serving as the marketing and promotions coordinator in Trinity's Department of Athletics.
Liz Eder, who along with Loeffler was a member of the 2008 cross country team that placed sixth in the national meet, finished one spot behind in fourth place overall. She crossed the finish line in 2:56:20, a pace of 6:43 per mile for her marathon debut. In addition to her cross country exploits, Eder was also a track and field national qualifier for the Tigers in the 10,000 meters.
In the men's race, Jeremy Daum, Loeffler's fiancé, placed eighth overall with a time of 2:33:44, 5:52 pace per mile. The time was a personal best for Daum, who is the current school record holder for the Tigers in the 3000 meter steeplechase. In addition to his own racing duties, Daum has also coached Loeffler and Armstrong since their graduation from Trinity.
In the men's half marathon, 2010 graduate Chass Armstrong finished fifth in a highly competitive field. He covered the 13.1 mile course in a blazing 66:46, a pace of 5:05 per mile. Armstrong, who was better known as an All-American and school record holding middle distance runner during his Trinity years, was 1 minute and 46 seconds from qualifying for the US Olympic Marathon Trials in his first ever half marathon.
