San Marcos, Texas - The Texas State University
Bobcats beat the Trinity Tigers women 8-1 in an inter-divisional
women's tennis match.
Texas State is a member of the NCAA Division I, and the Tigers
(0-4) are ranked 19th in Division III.
Trinity sophomore Kassie Seger of Boise, Idaho (Bishop Kelly),
won the Tigers' only match of the day. Seger outfought Texas
State's Mariana Charalambous 2-6, 7-5 (10-7), with a tiebreak
played instead of the third set.
Both the Tiger women and the 14th-ranked Trinity men open their
home schedules Sunday with JUCO powerhouse Tyler Junior College.
The matches begin at 10 a.m. at Delavan Tennis Stadium. Tyler JC
requested the matches be postponed from last Friday, because of
impassable roads in North Texas.
