San Antonio - The Trinity Tigers are the No. 1
seed in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Soccer
Tournament, which begins Friday at Birmingham, Ala.
It will be the first postseason SCAC Soccer Tournament since the
1992 campaign.
Trinity (18-0-0, 8-0-0 SCAC), ranked third in the NCAA Division
III, has a first-round bye and will take on the winner of No. 4
Rhodes and fifth-seeded Hendrix at noon Saturday in the semifinals.
Rhodes and Hendrix open the six-team tournament at noon Friday.
Host Birmingham-Southern, the No. 2 seed, has also received a
first-round bye. Birmingham-Southern plays the winner of No. 3
Centre and sixth-seeded Sewanee: The University of the South at
2:30 p.m. Saturday. The Centre/Sewanee matchup is scheduled for
2:30 p.m Friday.
The SCAC Championship game - which will determine the conference's
automatic bid to the NCAA Division III playoffs - is scheduled for
11 a.m. Sunday.
Eighth-year Trinity head coach Lance Key has guided the Tigers to
five SCAC titles. Trinity has captured 15 SCAC Championships since
1992.
