Claremont, Calif. - The sixth-ranked Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens beat the No. 25 Trinity Tigers women 8-1 Saturday in a tennis dual match on the Pomona-Pitzer campus.
Trinity (2-4) won No. 3 singles as Megan Jackson defeated Arthi Padmanabhan 7-5, 6-1.
The Sagehens Jamie Solomon and /Kara Wang edged Katie Griffith and Kassie Seger 9-8 (2) at No. 1 doubles. Nicole Holsted and Emily Kawahara defeated Thavindra Ekanayake and Kylie Hornbeck 8-4 in the No. 2 match. Padmanabhan and Samantha Chao completed the doubles sweep with an 8-1 win over Jackson and Kathleen Lundquist.
Solomon bested Ekanayake 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1 singles, and Wang beat Griffith 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 2 match. Holsted took No. 4 singles with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Hornbeck, and Chao beat Seger 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5. Jessica Hsu won No. 6 singles, beating Erin Jamison 6-2, 7-5.
The Tigers continue their California trip Sunday at No. 29 Redlands, starting at 11 a.m. Pacific (1 p.m. Central).
