Redlands. Calif. -- The No. 29 Redlands Bulldogs edged the 25th-ranked Trinity Tigers women 5-4 Sunday afternoon.
Redlands started the match by winning all three doubles match-ups. The Tigers took four of six singles, but could not overcome the early deficit.
The dual match was decided at No. 3 singles, as Redlands Sara Yoshinaga beat Trinity's
Megan Jackson 6-4, 3-6, 6-2.
Trinity's
Thavindra Ekanayake captured No. 1 singles by defeating Rachael Miller 6-3, 6-2.
Katie Griffith took No. 2 singles with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Redlands Jessica Ly.
The Tigers
Kylie Hornbeck was a 1-6, 6-2, 7-5 winner over Paige Press at No. 4 singles.
Erin Jamison took out Katherine Guimapang 6-2, 7-6 (5) in the No. 6 match.
Redlands' other singles win was at the No. 5 slot, as Julia Galbraith beat
Kassie Seger 6-2, 0-6, 6-1.
Miller and Yoshinaga won No. 1 doubles 8-2 over Griffith and Seger, while Ly and Galbraith beat Ekanayake and Hornbeck 8-5 at No. 2. Amanda Alvarez and Press completed the Redlands sweep of doubles with an 8-4 win over Jackson and
Kathleen Lundquist at No. 3.
Trinity (2-5) wraps up its California trip Monday at No. 28 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. The match will begin at 9 a.m. Pacific (11 a.m. Central) in Claremont.
