Box Score 2 Claremont, Calif. --The No. 28 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athenas beat the 25th-ranked Trinity women 7-2 Monday in the Tigers' final match of their California trip.
Trinity (2-6) will host No. 26 UC-Santa Cruz at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 24, at Delavan Tennis Stadium.
The Athenas took two of three doubles matches. Trinity won No. 3 doubles as Katie Griffith and Kassie Seger beat Jessie Huang and Victoria Nichols 8-1.
Trinity's other point in the match came at No. 6 singles, as Kathleen Lundquist defeated Kelly Chen 7-5, 3-6, 10-5 (tiebreak instead of third set).
Thavindra Ekanayake and Kassie Seger fell 8-0 to Claremont's Crystal Lim and Kristin Lim at No. 1 doubles. The Athenas Chloe Dobbert and Jaclyn Smrecek beat Lundquist and Kylie Hornbeck 8-1 in No. 2 doubles.
Kristin Lim beat Ekanayake 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, and Crystal Lim was a 6-2, 6-2 winner over Griffith in the No. 2 match.
No. 3 singles went to Dobbert, who beat Jackson 7-6, 6-3, and Hannah Kornfeld took No. 4 singles 6-3, 4-6, 10-8 over Hornbeck. Victoria Santoro won No. 5 singles, beating Seger 6-1, 6-1.
