San Antonio - Trinity's Thavindra Ekanayake has
been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's
Tennis Player of the Week.
The Tiger junior led the team to three victories against SCAC
teams on Saturday, beating Southwestern, Colorado College, and
Austin College. Ekanayake went 2-0 in both singles and
doubles in the three matches.
She opened her day with an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles against
Southwestern, then followed that up with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1
singles. Ekanayake then had an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles over
Colorado College, and a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles against
Austin College to finish the day.
Trinity continues play on April 13 and 14, hosting three teams
over the two days. The Tigers face McMurry University on
Friday afternoon, followed by matches against Central Oklahoma and
Oklahoma Christian on Saturday.
