Former Tiger Hired as Cross Country and Track & Field Assistant Coach

San Antonio - Trinity All-American Emily Daum has been hired as the assistant coach for men's and women's cross country.

Daum (formerly Loeffler) was a four-time All-American in track & field and cross country with the Tigers from 2005-09, and received her B.S. in business in May 2009.  She had concentrations in marketing and management, as well as a minor in physical education.  She earned her master's degree in kinesiology from Texas A&M University-San Antonio in May 2011.

After graduating from Trinity, Daum was the recipient of the NCAA Ethnic Minority and Women's Internship Grant, and worked in marketing and sports information in Trinity's athletic department for two years.  

As a student-athlete, Daum led Trinity to the best finish in school and Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference history in 2008.  Daum led the team to sixth place at the 2008 NCAA Division III Championships, and she finished 17th individually to become Trinity's first-ever cross country All-American.  

Daum holds school records in the 5k and 6k in cross country, the 1500m, 3000m (indoor and outdoor), and the 3000m steeplechase.  Daum was also the President of Trinity's Student Athlete Advisory Committee for two years.

Her main duties will be as the assistant to Head Coach Derick Lawrence in cross country, but will also be an assistant with Trinity's track & field teams during the spring semester.  

Daum also holds a Coaching Level 1 certificate from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
