San Antonio - Trinity's women's soccer
team finished with its third straight shutout of the season on
Friday night, defeating Our Lady of the Lake University 3-0.
The Tigers improved to 4-0-1 with the win, and have allowed just
one goal this year. Tonight's game was also the team's home
opener of the 2012 season.
Trinity took a 2-0 halftime lead after a pair of goals in the
middle of the first period of play. Emily Donnan scored the
eventual game-winner in the 22nd minute, while Stephanie Segovia
netted her own goal just 1:47 later. Kelsey Falcone and Katy
Lipscomb earned assists on the goals.
Shelby Guenthardt finished off the scoring with the second
half's only goal, which came with just over 10 minutes to play, and
put the finishing touches on the victory. Falcone picked up
her second assist of the night.
Trinity out-shot OLLU 30-2 in the game - including a 17-0
advantage in the second half. The Tigers had 15 total shots
on goal against the Saints.
Katie Garrett combined with Devan Osegueda and Lauren Goldberg
for the shutout, and Garrett recorded a pair of saves to keep OLLU
scoreless.
Trinity returns to action next Friday (09/21) in its Southern
Collegiate Athletic Conference opener against the University of
Dallas. Wednesday's game against Concordia (TX) University
has been cancelled.
