San Antonio - The fourth-ranked Tiger women's soccer team opened the University's Alumni Weekend with a 7-1 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victory over the University of Dallas on Friday evening.
The fourth-ranked Trinity Tigers women's soccer team opened the University's Alumni Weekend with a 7-1 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victory Friday night over the University of Dallas Crusaders.
Trinity, the defending conference champion, remained undefeated with a 12-0-1 overall record, and a 7-0-0 mark in the SCAC. Dallas dropped to 5-8-0 and 3-4-0 with the loss. The Tigers beat the Crusaders 3-0 on Oct. 4 at Irving, Texas.
Emily Jorgens scored two goals for the Tigers, in the sixth and 51st minutes of play. Jorgens also recorded two assists on the night, and her first goal turned out to be the game-winner - her fifth of the season.
Maggie Olvera started the scoring just 3:20 into the game, assisted by Kelsey Falcone. Brigette Taylor added a goal in the 40th minute, giving Trinity a 3-0 halftime lead. Falcone added a goal of her own less than five minutes into the second half.
Shelby Guenthardt sent one past the goalkeeper in the 67th minute, and Michelle Lanier finished the scoring by converting a penalty kick late in the game. Lanier, Tara Sparks, and Mariah Risk were also credited with assists.
Devan Osegueda was the starting Trinity keeper, followed in the second half by Lauren Goldberg and Janie Thompson, who accounted for a save.
The Tigers wrap up their regular-season home schedule by hosting Our Lady of the Lake University at 7:00 p.m. on Monday night.
