Box Score 2 Abilene, Texas - The Tiger women's tennis
team lost a 9-0 decision to Division II's third-ranked Abilene
Christian University on Saturday, finishing off the ACU Indoor
Championships.
Trinity fell to 1-2 on the season, though both losses have come
against non-Division III opponents. The Tigers blanked
Hardin-Simmons 9-0 in their only DIII match of the year so far.
The doubles competition started with three points for ACU, which
won 8-3, 8-5, and 8-3, respectively. Trinity's Caroline White
and Kylie Hornbeck came close to stealing at point at No. 2 doubles
with the 8-5 defeat.
White and Hornbeck also lost at Nos. 3 and 4 singles against
ACU. All six of Trinity's singles matches were straight-set
losses, with both Hornbeck and Gabrielle Roe suffering their first
defeats of the season in singles. Roe lost at the fifth
position on Saturday.
Trinity returns to action on Valentine's Day, February 14,
hosting St. Mary's (TX) University in the team's 2013 home debut.
Following a road trip to Austin, Texas, to face St. Edward's
on Friday, the team will return home for a pair of matches against
Tyler Junior College and Laredo Community College on Saturday,
February 16.
