Claremont, California - The 13th-ranked
Trinity Tigers women's tennis team fell 5-2 to No. 27 Whitman on March 12.
Trinity (3-12) lost to ranked teams on its California trip:
Pomona-Pitzer, Redlands, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, and Bowdoin, in
addition toWhitman.
In the
Whitman match, the
Tigers captured No. 3 doubles as
Kristy Hamilton and Stephanie
Williamson outfought Kate Rubinstein and Katrina Allick 9-8
(7-4). Trinity's other point in the dual match came at No. 4
singles, as
Gabrielle Roe defeated Jenna Dobrin 6-1, 6-2.
Whitman won Nos. 1, 2 and 3
singles in straight sets. The Nos. 5 and 6 singles matches, which
were under way, were called afterWhitman clinched the team match.
Trinity will host the No. 1 team in the nation, Johns
Hopkins, at 5 p.m. Wednesday. The Tiger men, ranked seventh, will
also take on Johns Hopkins (ranked eighth) at 5 p.m.
