Greencastle, Indiana - The Tiger women's
tennis team lost an 8-1 decision to fifth-ranked Carnegie Mellon
University in the semifinals of the ITA Indoor National
Championships on Saturday evening.
Trinity fell to 3-6 on the season, while Carnegie Mellon is now
5-1. The Tigers trailed 2-1 after doubles, as Kristy Hamilton
and Stephanie Williamson won 8-5 at No. 3 doubles.
The Tigers fell in all six singles sets, though, as Carnegie
Mellon reached the championships, which are held tomorrow.
Kylie Hornbeck won her first set 6-4 at No. 3 singles, but then
lost 3-6, 2-6 in the closest match of the night.
Trinity will face top seed University of Chicago in tomorrow's
Third Place match, after Chicago was upset by Johns Hopkins today.
The match begins at 10:00 a.m. (EST) at DePauw University.
