San Antonio - Trinity's 14th-ranked
women's tennis team was swept 9-0 by the top-ranked Johns Hopkins
University Blue Jays on Wednesday evening.
The Tigers fell to 3-13 with the team's eighth consecutive loss.
Trinity was swept in the doubles to start the match, then
also lost all six singles to conclude the night's contest.
Thavindra Ekanayake and Stephanie Williamson lost 8-1 at No. 1
doubles, while Kathleen Lundquist and Caroline White suffered an
8-3 loss in the second position. Kristy Hamilton and
Gabrielle Roe fell 8-2 at the third slot.
Five of the six doubles players also lost in singles play on
Wednesday. Also falling was Kylie Hornbeck, who dropped a
6-2, 7-6 match at No. 2 singles. Each of the singles matches
were decided in straight sets.
Trinity returns to action next week, hosting Lewis & Clark
College on Friday, March 29. The Tigers then conclude their
home schedule with matches against University of Incarnate Word and
Texas Lutheran University on Saturday, April 6.
