San Antonio - Trinity Tigers senior All-America
midfielder Kelsey Falcone and junior midfielder Kimberly Polasek
have been designated as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference
Women's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week,
respectively.
Falcone and Polasek were major contributors to
the third-ranked Tigers SCAC victories over Schreiner University
and Texas Lutheran University.
The prolific Falcone tallied points on six of
Trinity's 15 goals, which included three goals and three
assists over the two games. Falcone scored the first goal of the
second half against Schreiner, giving Trinity a 4-0 lead. Against
Texas Lutheran, Falcone scored two goals and dished out three
assists. She assisted her teammates on Trinity's first goals
in both halves of the matchup.
This season, Falcone is second on the Tiger team
with 11 goals, 10 assists and 32 points. She is tied for second
place with two game-winning goals. Falcone is two assists shy of
becoming the second Tiger player to record at least 40 goals and 40
assists in a career. Senior All-American teammate Emily Jorgens has
posted 53 goals and 79 assists, becoming the first male or female
player in the SCAC to accomplish the feat of at least 50 goals and
50 assists in a career.
Polasek and the taut Tiger defense allowed just
one shot over the two games. No shots were yielded in the
shutout win over Schreiner. Polasek contributed to the offensive
cause by scoring a goal in each half against Texas Lutheran,
including the first, which occurred in the second minute of
play.
For the season, Polasek has chalked up two goals
and four assists, and has helped the Tigers to 10 shutouts over the
16 games.
Trinity (15-0-1, 9-0-0 SCAC), the winner of 14
consecutive games, will host two SCAC contests this weekend. Up
first will be Austin College at 8:00 p.m. Friday, followed by
a 2:00 p.m. Sunday game with the University of
Dallas.
