San Antonio -
Trinity first-year midfielder/forward Colleen Markey has been
selected as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference
Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
Markey fired in two goals - one in each
half - against Southwestern University last weekend as the
third-ranked Tigers wrapped up their regular-season home schedule
with a 6-0 victory. The efficient Markey produced only four total
shots in a 47-minute span, with two resulting in scoring
plays.
This season, Markey has scored six goals, tied
for fourth on the team, along with three assists (tied for sixth on
the squad) over 18 games. Markey has amassed 15 points, which ranks
fourth on the Tiger team.
Trinity (18-0-1, 12-0-0 SCAC) has won 17
straight games. The Tigers will defend their conference title this
weekend by hosting the SCAC Championship Friday through Sunday.
Top-seeded Trinity has earned a bye to Saturday's semifinals,
to be played at 5:00 p.m. The Tigers will take on the winner of No.
4 Austin College and fifth-seeded Southwestern, with the winner
advancing to Sunday's championship game at 1:00 p.m. Texas
Lutheran plays the University of Dallas/Schreiner University winner
in the other semifinal matchup, scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
Saturday.
