Austin, Texas - Trinity's women's tennis
team lost a tough 6-3 road decision against Division II team St.
Edward's University on Saturday afternoon.
Trinity (2-4) is ranked 23rd in the NCAA Division III,
while St. Edward's holds a top-50 ranking in Division II.
Kylie Hornbeck and Liza Southwick took No. 2
doubles 8-6, while Kristy Hamilton and Stephanie Williamson won the
No. 3 line 9-7. Caroline White and Kathleen Lundquist fell 8-2 in
the No. 1 match.
St. Edward's went on to win five of six
singles matches, with Lundquist coming out on top 6-1, 6-4 at the
No. 6 position.
Southwick played a tight No. 1 singles
match,,coming up short 6-2, 3-6, 6-2., Hornbeck lost 6-1, 6-0
at No. 2 singles, and Hamilton fell 7-6, 6-1 at No. 3. Gabrielle
Roe lost a 6-4, 6-4 match on the No. 4 line, and Williamson dropped
a 6-1, 6-4 decision at tje No. 5 match.
The Tigers embark on a four-match, five-day trip to
California, beginning March 7 at the University of
Redlands.
