Orange, California - The 23rd-ranked
Trinity women's tennis team wrapped up its California trip
with a tight 4-5 loss to the Chapman University Panthers Tuesday
afternoon.
Trinity had its two-match winning streak
snapped, and now stands at 4-6. The Tigers will return to
action on Friday, March 28, hosting Schreiner University at 2:00
p.m.
Chapman began the match by winning two of the
three doubles matches to take the early advantage. The doubles
point for the Tigers came from the No. 2 line, with Kylie Hornbeck
and Liza Southwick getting an 8-2 nod. The Trinity tandem has now
chalked up an 8-2 record thsi season.
The two teams split the singles matches, as both
squad nabbed three victories.
Southwick upped her singles record to 6-4 with a
6-1, 7-5 win at the No. 1 position. Hamilton won a three-setter
1-6, 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4 singles, while Gabrielle Roe prevailed 6-1,
6-0 at No. 5.
White lost 1-6, 3-6 at No. 2 singles, Hornbeck
dropped an 0-6, 0-6 decision at No. 3, and Lundquist came up short
2-6, 3-6 at the No. 6 line.
