Tiger women's tennis team lost a 4-5 battle to Gustavus
Adolphus College at the Butch Newman Tennis Center on Monday.
Trinity led 4-2 after winning the first three singles matches of
the evening, but each of the final three matches went to a third
set. The Tigers were unable to hang on in the end, as
Gustavus rallied for victories at lines one, five, and
two.
Lavinia Bendandi won her opening set 6-3 at No. 5 singles, but
then fell 1-6, 2-6 in a match that started the singles rally for
the Gusties. At the top line, Kylie Hornbeck forced a third
set with her 7-5 win in the second, but she lost 6-4 to tie the
overall match 4-4. Kristy Hamilton also won her second set
7-5 to extend her match at the second position, but she couldn't
complete the comeback, falling 6-4 in the third.
Gustavus took the early lead in the match by clinching two of
the three doubles points to start the day. Trinity's Caroline
White and Gabrielle Roe took the lone Tiger point in doubles,
winning from the third position to start the team scoring.
The Gusties, however, won the next two for a 2-1 lead heading
into singles play.

leading the way for the Tiger women's team. White took a
straight-set 6-4, 6-0 win at line three, and Roe emerged as a 6-3,

Tigers return to action on Saturday afternoon at 4:00 p.m., hosting
McMurry University.
