California -- The
23rd-ranked Trinity Tigers women's tennis team won two of
three doubles and five of six singles matches to defeat the
California Lutheran University Regals 7-2 on Saturday.
Caroline White and Kathleen
Lundquist teamed up to win No. 1 doubles against Cal Lutheran 8-6,
while Kylie Hornbeck and Liza Southwick took the No. 2 line 8-5.
Kristy Hamilton and Stephanie Williamson lost No. 3 doubles by a
score of 0-8.
Southwick was a 6-0, 6-2 winner at No. 1
singles, and Hornbeck captured the No. 2 match 7-6, retired.
Gabrielle Roe won a straight-sets 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 4
singles, and Williamson emerged as the winner of the No. 5 matchup
2-6, 7-6, 6-4. Lavinia Bendandi came through for the Tigers at No.
6 singles in a 6-3, 6-2 match. Hamilton lost a tight No. 3 singles
match 5-7, 6-1, 4-10 (tiebreaker instead of third
set).
Trinity (3-5) continues its California road trip
in Claremont on Sunday, by taking on the University of Rochester at
9 a.m. PDT. The Tigers lost 3-6 to 13th-ranked University of
Redlands on Friday.
