Sumter, South Carolina - The Tiger doubles team of Liza Southwick and Marie Lutz won their Division III play-in match Wednesday at the USTA/ITA National Small College Championships.

Southwick and Lutz took out Claudia Lew and Christie Eliazo of Lewis and Clark College 6-2, 6-3 on the opening day of the national event. The third-seeded Trinity duo will meet Bridget Harding and Katarina Su of Emory University in the quarterfinals at 3:00 p.m. ET Thursday.

This marks the second straight year Southwick and Lutz are competing at the National Small College Championships. They earned the right by winning the ITA Southwest Region Championship last month at Georgetown, Texas. Last year, Southwick and Lutz finish fifth at the national tournament.

The winners of Divisions II, III, NAIA, and JUCO will compete in the “Super Bowl” on Sunday, to crown overall champions.
