Box Score Belton, Texas - The Tiger women's
tennis team improved to 2-0 against NCAA Division III opponents
with a 7-2 victory over the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor
Saturday.
Trinity is now 3-3 overall this season, and today's
win snapped a three-match losing streak. The Tigers got back
on track by winning two of three doubles and five of six singles
matches against Mary Hardin-Baylor.
Liza Southwick and Marie Lutz blanked their No.
1 doubles opponents 8-0, while Caroline White and Gabrielle Roe won
8-3 on the No. 2 line. Kaitlyn Thompson and Elena Wilson fell 8-2
at No. 3 doubles.
Blaire Porter took No. 2 singles 6-2, 6-0, and
White was a 6-1, 6-0 winner on the No. 3 line. Kristy Hamilton
prevailed 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4 singles, and Nicole Rueb won the No. 5
match 6-2, 6-1. Cheyenne Duncan shut out her UMHB opposition 6-0,
6-0 at No. 6 singles.
Southwick was edged 7-6 in the first set of No.
1 singles, and lost the second by a score of 6-4.
Trinity will play St. Mary's University, ranked 16th
in Division II, on February 28 at the Rattlers courts in San
Antonio. The Tigers make their home debut March 1 by hosting
Rollins College, ranked ninth in Division II.
