Box Score 2 San Antonio - Trinity first-year student-athlete Blaire Porter has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week.
Porter produced a 3-1 singles record on the 38th-ranked Tigers trip to California last week. Trinity opened the West Coast Swing with a victory over the California Institute of Technology, and ended it with a win over No. 32 Chapman University. The Tigers fell to sixth-ranked Bowdoin College and No. 8 Pomona-Pitzer Colleges.
Starting off at No. 3 singles, Porter won the match against her Cal Tech opponent. She then defeated Bowdoin's No. 4 player. Porter lost to Pomona-Pitzer, but wrapped up the trip by defeating her opposition from Chapman. Both matches were on the No. 4 line. Porter stands at 7-5 in singles play this season, and is 5-3 at the No. 4 position.
Porter and first-year player Cheyenne Duncan picked up No. 2 doubles wins over Cal Tech and Chapman.
The Tigers have a 5-7 overall record, and are 4-2 against NCAA Division III competition. Trinity returns home March 27 to host Midwestern State University, ranked 18th in Division II.
