San Antonio - The Trinity Tigers women's tennis team lost 7-2 to Tyler Junior College Friday in a dual match played at the Butch Newman Tennis Center.

Trinity (3-5) is ranked No. 40 in the NCAA Division III, while Tyler JC is the No. 2 team in the National Junior College Athletic Association.

Gabby Roe and Caroline White fought their way to a 9-7 victory at No. 3 doubles, for the Tigers first point of the match.  Marie Lutz and Liza Southwick fell at No. 1 doubles, while Cheyenne Duncan and Blaire Porter lost on the No. 2 line.

Roe also won Trinity's singles point, capturing No. 5 singles in straight sets.

White gave a solid effort at No. 4 singles, but came up short 6-3, 7-6 (11-9).  Southwick, Lutz and Porter lost Nos. 1-3 singles, respectively, and Duncan dropped the No. 6 line.

Trinity embarks on a four-match trip to California, taking on Division III teams. The Tigers, 2-0 in DIII matches, start off Sunday at Pacific Palisades against the California Institute of Technology. On Monday, Trinity meets sixth-ranked Bowdoin College (Maine) in Claremont, followed by a Tuesday matchup with No. 8 Pomona-Pitzer Colleges. The Tigers wrap up their West Coast swing Wednesday in Orange, with No. 31 Chapman University.

The Tigers return home March 27 to host Midwestern State University, ranked No. 18 in Division II.
