Box Score

San Antonio - Trinity sophomore Liza Southwick and first-year player Marie Lutz have earned Division III women's tennis All-America accolades in doubles from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

The Tiger tandem won the ITA Regional Doubles Championship last fall at the Butch Newman Tennis Center on Trinity's campus. Southwick and Lutz qualified for the USTA/ITA National Small College Championship, where they took home fifth place. Last month, the Trinity duo competed in the NCAA Division III Doubles Championship at Mason, Ohio.

Southwick and Lutz played No. 1 doubles for the Tigers during the 2015 campaign, and completed the season with a 10-10 record in dual matches. They were awarded a final ranking of No. 19 in the nation by the ITA.

Led by first-year Head Coach Gretchen Rush,  the Tigers qualified for the NCAA Tournament  for the 19th overall time, and fourth in a row. Trinity traveled to Claremont, California, to the NCAA Regional, and defeated the University of Texas-Tyler in the opening round. The host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges beat the Tigers in the second round. Prior to the NCAA Tournament, the Tigers captured a 19th Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship, winning the title for the fourth consecutive time.

Trinity wrapped up the season with a No. 32 national ranking, and an 11-9 record. The Tigers sported a 10-3 mark against the Division III competition.
