Oshkosh, Wisconsin - The Trinity volleyball team split its final matches at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Invitational on Saturday, falling 3-2 against #12 UW-Whitewater, and capping the weekend with a 3-1 win over Edgewood (WI) College.

MATCH SUMMARIES

The Tigers took the first two sets 26-24 and 25-22 against Whitewater, but the 12th-ranked Warhawks rallied to tie the match by winning 25-17 and 25-19.  UWW the finished off the comeback with a 15-5 win in the fifth set.

After taking a 2-0 lead with a pair of 25-19 sets against Edgewood, the Tigers fell 25-21 in the third.  Trinity answered with its biggest win of the day, taking a 25-18 decision to clinch the match.

NOTABLES

Trinity now stands at 14-5, after its 2-2 weekend in Wisconsin. On Friday, The Tigers battled #23 Wisconsin-Oshkosh, and were edged 3-2 by the host Titans. Trinity rebounded to defeat 18th-ranked Elmhurst (IL) College 3-1.

Kirby Smith was elected to the All-Tournament Team, after posting three double-doubles in her four matches played.

Smith finished with a team-best 20 kills to go with 15 digs and a .327 hitting percentage in the final match of the weekend, as well as posting 20 kills earlier in the day against UWW>

Rebecca Hayes hit .550 against Edgewood, chalking up 11 kills in 20 total attacks, without committing an error.

Erika Edrington amassed two double-doubles on Saturday, starting with 43 assists and 10 digs against Whitewater. Edrington then posted 43 assists and 10 digs against Elmhurst.

UP NEXT

Trinity travels to Georgetown, Texas, next Friday and Saturday for the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Divisional. The Tigers take on Schreiner (TX) University Friday. On Saturday, Trinity meets the third-ranked host Southwestern University, and Texas Lutheran University.
