Box Score San Antonio - Trinity senior Gabrielle Roe has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week.
Roe produced a 3-1 singles record, and a 2-2 double mark last weekend in matches played against ranked NCAA Division III teams at Walla Walla, Washington. The versatile Roe won No. 4 singles against the host, and 22nd-ranked Whitman College, and No. 18 the University of Redlands (CA), while picking up a win on the No. 3 line in the matchup with No. 35 Linfield (OR) College. Roe and Blaire Porter took No. 3 doubles in the match with Lewis and Clark (OR) University, and the No. 2 pairing against Redlands. This season, Roe stands at 3-2 in singles, largely in the No. 4 slot, and 2-2 in tandem competition.
The 33rd-ranked Tiger team edged Whitman 5-4, and lost by the same score to Lewis and Clark. Trinity dispatched Linfield 7-2, and lost 5-2 to Redlands to finish the trip to the Northwest.
Trinity will host Tyler Junior College, ranked No. 2 in the National Junior College Athletic Association, at 9:00 a.m. Saturday at the Butch Newman Tennis Center. The Tigers then meet SCAC opponent Texas Lutheran University at 2:00 p.m.
