Box Score 2 Georgetown, Texas - The 24th-ranked Trinity women's tennis team swept dual matches from Hardin-Simmons University and host Southwestern University Saturday afternoon and evening by scores of 9-0.
Trinity improved to 5-5 overall, and now stands at 5-2 against NCAA Division III opponents.
Marie Lutz and Caroline Kutach played No. 1 doubles in both matches, and remained undefeated with a 5-0 record. Gabrielle Roe and Liza Southwick held down the No. 2 position, and Andrea De Leon and Cheyenne Duncan played the No. 3 line.
Against Hardin-Simmons, the singles lineup consisted of Lutz, Kutach, Roe, De Leon, Duncan, and Blaire Porter. Lutz battled back from a 1-5 deficit to win her No. 1 singles match against Southwestern 7-6, 6-2. Southwick took over the No. 3 singles slot in the match with the Pirates, while Roe played the No. 4 line, De Leon competed in the No. 5 match, and Duncan was No. 6.
The Tigers will host Rhodes (TN) College in a dual match at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Butch Newman Tennis Center.
