Box Score San Antonio - Six Trinity players were named to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Tennis All-Tournament Team.
The team is composed of players who were undefeated at last week's SCAC Championship, held at Schreiner University in Kerrville, Texas. Guided by second-year Head Coach Gretchen Rush, the Tigers won their fifth consecutive SCAC title, with a 5-1 victory over Southwestern University. Top-seeded Trinity received a first-round bye, and beat host Schreiner 5-0 in the semifinals. The championship marked the 20th SCAC crown in Trinity women's tennis history.
Marie Lutz received the honor while playing #1 singles, and in the top doubles match. Her doubles partner, Liza Southwick, also competed on the third singles line. Andrea De Leon represented the Tigers at #4 singles, and the third doubles matchup, with Blaire Porter. Cheyenne Duncan and Caroline Kutach earned the distinction at #2 doubles.
The Tigers are ranked #24 in the nation, and stand at 14-9 on the season. Trinity received an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Playoffs, which open May 13-15 at a site to be determined. The official bid will be issued May 9. The NCAA Team Championship is slated for May 23-25 at Kalamazoo, Michigan. The Singles and Doubles Championships will be held May 26-28, also at Kalamazoo.
