Box Score 2 Abilene, Texas - Trinity placed second in the main-draw women's singles and doubles Sunday at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southwest Region Championships.
TOURNAMENT SUMMARY
Top-seeded Liza Southwick advanced to the "A Singles" Championship match on Sunday. The Tiger senior lost 6-1, 6-2 to #3 Kathy Joseph of the University of Texas-Dallas. Southwick was also singles runner-up at the 2014 tournament. In the semifinals, Southwick beat fourth-seeded Tiger teammate Caroline Kutach 6-2, 6-2.
Marie Lutz, seeded second, lost 6-2, 6-3 to Joseph in the semifinals match-up. The Tiger junior advanced to the singles semifinals for the third straight year.
The #1-seeded team of Lutz and Southwick came up short in a bid for a third consecutive Regional "A Doubles" title. Trinity's duo lost 6-2, 6-3 to the second-seeded tandem of Joseph and Melanie Marlin of UT-Dallas.
The "B Singles" Championship was an all Trinity final. Junior Blaire Porter claimed the top slot with a 6-2, 6-2 win over first-year player Anne Wellford.
