Box Score San Antonio - The Trinity volleyball team has been ranked fifth in the nation for the third consecutive week by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III Poll.
Led by 33rd-year Head Coach Julie Jenkins, the Tigers stand at 26-6 on the season. Last weekend, the Tigers concluded their regular-season home schedule by going 3-0 at the Trinity Texas Classic. Trinity claimed 3-1 victories over the University of Texas-Dallas, Concordia (TX) University, and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (TX). UT-Dallas and Mary Hardin-Baylor had received votes in the AVCA Poll.
The defending champion Tigers are seeded #2 in the upcoming Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament to be held Friday and Saturday in Kerrville, Texas, at Schreiner University. Trinity received a bye to the semifinals and will play at 6:00 p.m. Friday against the winner of second-ranked and third-seeded Southwestern (TX) University and sixth-seeded Centenary (LA) College. The championship match is slated for 4:30 p.m. Saturday with the winner earning a guaranteed bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
Trinity is ranked 10th nationally in team kills and 12th in team assists by the latest NCAA Division III statistics posts. Sarah Mullens holds a #9 ranking in service aces with 77 in her column.
