Box Score 2 San Antonio - Trinity's Liza Southwick has been selected as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week.
Southwick helped pace the 23rd-ranked Tigers to two 9-0 victories last week against McMurry University and Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas. The Trinity senior went 2-0 in both singles and doubles play. Southwick won the #1 singles position in each matchup, including battling back for an 11-9 tiebreaker win against Hardin-Simmons. She was successful in the #2 doubles spot with teammate Mary Kaffen.
This season, Southwick stands at 3-1 in singles and 4-0 in doubles. Southwick has had several doubles partners including Marie Lutz, Cheyenne Duncan and Mary Kaffen.
The Tigers have a 3-1 record and stand 3-0 against Division III opponents. Trinity will play two matches on Saturday against Division II members. The team will travel to nearby St. Mary's University for a 9 a.m. match and return home at for a contest with Texas A&M-University Kingsville at 1 p.m.
