Box Score 2 San Antonio - The 17th-ranked Trinity women's tennis team defeated #25 Linfield (OR) College 7-2 on Wednesday.
MATCH SUMMARY
The Tigers opened the contest by claiming all three doubles matches, capped by a 9-7 win on the third line by Caroline Kutach and Cheyenne Duncan.
Linfield got on the board to start singles, but Kutach scored a win at #2 singles, followed by the clincher by Marie Lutz at line three.
Andrea De Leon continued Trinity's streak by claiming a three-setter at #5 singles, and Mary Kaffen got a win on the sixth line. Liza Southwick split sets at #1 singles, but came up short 10-3 in the tiebreaker to finish off the match.
NOTABLES
The Tigers improved their overall record to 11-7, and are now 11-4 against the NCAA Division III opposition. Linfield now stands at 10-3.
Marie Lutz and Zoe Kaffen improve to 10-6 as a doubles team after winning 8-3 on line one this afternoon.
Caroline Kutach is now sporting an 11-7 singles record, while Andrea De Leon is 13-4.
UP NEXT
Trinity will hit the road for a pair of matches in East Texas over the weekend. The Tigers begin the trip at East Texas Baptist University on Saturday, followed by a Sunday matchup with the University of Texas-Tyler.
