#14 Women's Tennis Overpowers East Texas Baptist

Marshall, Texas - The 14th-ranked Trinity women's tennis team opened its road swing Saturday with a 7-2 victory over East Texas Baptist University.

 

MATCH SUMMARY

The Tigers took a 2-1 lead after doubles, capped off by Liza Southwick and Mary Kaffen earning a hard-fought 9-8 win at line two.

Mary Kaffen's win at #6 singles sparked Trinity to five straight singles victories, and Caroline Kutach clinched the match with her win at line two.

East Texas Baptist won the final match of the day to score its only point in singles play.

 

NOTABLES

The Tigers now stand at 12-7 overall, and are 12-4 against NCAA Division III opponents. East Texas Baptist dropped to 13-3 after the loss.

Caroline Kutach and Andrea De Leon are sporting a 10-1 doubles record, while Liza Southwick and Mary Kaffen are 12-4.

De Leon has a 14-4 singles mark, while Kutach is 12-7, and Zoe Kaffen is 11-6.
