Liza Southwick to Compete in NCAA Singles Championships

San Antonio - Trinity women's tennis player Liza Southwick has been selected to compete in the NCAA Division III Singles Championship.

Southwick will represent the Tigers in the 32-draw singles event May 25-27 at Chattanooga, Tennessee. The Trinity senior previously competed in the NCAA Doubles Championship with Marie Lutz over the past two years.

This season, Southwick has amassed an overall record of 12-8 at #1 singles, and stands at 11-6 against Division III opponents. Southwick is ranked eighth in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association West Region.

Trinity (17-7) is led by third-year head Coach Gretchen Rush, and will open its NCAA Team Championship bid Saturday at Claremont, California. The 16th-ranked Tigers take on #5 Pomona-Pitzer (CA) Colleges in the second round at 2:00 p.m. Pacific Time at Claremont McKenna College.

The third round is slated for 2:30 p.m. Sunday, with the winner advancing to the NCAA Quarterfinals May 22 at Chattanooga. The Semifinals and Championship will be held on subsequent days.
