Virginia Beach, Virginia - The fifth-ranked Trinity women's soccer team dropped its season opener with a 1-0 double-overtime loss to Christopher Newport (VA) University on Friday.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
The two teams battled it out until the 106th minute, when a Christopher Newport player scored on a loose ball to the left of the Trinity goalkeeper.
Tiger keeper Kalli Douma was brilliant throughout the matchup, posting a career-high eight saves. She nabbed two saves in each OT period, as well as three in the second half to preserve a shutout in regulation.
The Tigers were uncharacteristically limited to just three shots on goal, while the Captains made nine.
