San Antonio - Tiger senior goalkeeper Kalli Douma has been selected as the first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the 2017 season.
Douma and the fifth-ranked Tigers chalked up a 2-1-0 record last week, capped off by Monday's 2-0 win in the home opener against Sul Ross State (TX) University. Christopher Newport (VA) University edged Trinity 1-0 in a double-overtime battle to kick off the season, but the Tigers bounced back to defeat Virginia Wesleyan University 2-1 the next day.
In the loss to Christopher Newport, Douma recorded a career-high eight saves. She posted three of her four saves in the second half against Virginia Wesleyan, preserving the Tiger victory. Douma and first-year Paige Wallace combined for the shutout win against Sul Ross.
Trinity continues its homestand by taking on Aurora (IL) University on Friday at 5:00 p.m. Concordia (TX) University comes to campus next Monday at 6:00 p.m., and the Tigers open defense of their SCAC title Friday, September 15, with the University of Dallas at 6:00 p.m.
