Box Score San Antonio - The twentieth-ranked Tigers open up their Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference road weekend with 60-53 win over the University of Dallas (TX).
GAME SUMMARY
The matchup started out slow for both teams, but Trinity really struggled to get things going offensively. The Tigers went 0-9 from the field to start off the game, but a layup from Micah Weaver with just over two minutes left in the first quarter marked the first field goal for Trinity. That seemed to ignite a fire for the offensive attack, which finished the quarter on a 10-0 run to take a 10-4 lead after one.
The streak continued as the Tigers grew their lead to as many as 11 points in the second quarter. Dallas continued to fight and went on a 9-1 run of their own to make it 16-13 game with 5:31 left until the break. Trinity answered with a solid finish to the half that resulted in a 28-19 lead going into the locker room.
Both teams continued to battle early in the third quarter, but Dallas slowly chipped away at Trinity's lead. A 13-2 run by the Crusaders gave them a four-point lead with 15 seconds remaining in the quarter, but Trinity was able to tie the game at 40-all heading into the final stanza.
Abby Holland made a layup two minutes into the fourth quarter though to tie the game for the final time. A 13-3 run gave the Tigers a 10 point advantage with 2:38 remaining in the game, and Trinity held on for a 60-53 victory over the Crusaders.
