Kutach Falls in First Round of NCAA Tournament

Claremont, California - Junior Caroline Kutach fell to seventh-seeded Tess Trinka from Bowdoin (ME) College in the first round of the NCAA Division III Singles Championship.

 

SUMMARY

In her first appearance at the NCAA Singles event, Kutach dropped her first set 6-3 to the topped ranked Trinka, and then suffered the same fate in the second set. 

Kutach racked up a 14-6 record at the #1 singles position in dual-match competition and was elected the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Year.

Led by fourth-year Head Coach Gretchen Rush, the 20th-ranked Tigers finished the dual-match season with a 13-11 record. After winning the SCAC Championship, Trinity advanced to the NCAA second round and lost 5-0 to seventh-ranked Pomona-Pitzer (CA) Colleges.
