Box Score 2 San Antonio - The 21st-ranked Trinity women's tennis team lost a 6-1 home match to NCAA Division II member St. Edward's (TX) University on Thursday.
HIGHLIGHTS
The Tigers' lone victory occurred at #4 singles as Hailey Feuer defeated her Hilltopper opponent 6-3, 6-4.
St. Edward's began the match by sweeping all three doubles. Caroline Kutach and Megan Flores played the top line, Feuer and Andrea De Leon were paired at #2 doubles, and Ashley DeBauge and Hanna Rafferty competed in the third matchup.
Four of the six singles matches finished with straight-sets wins for the Hilltoppers. Kutach had the #1 match, DeBauge played the second line, and Flores took the court at #5 singles. Rafferty came up short in a first-set tiebreaker and then lost the second set of #6 singles.
DeLeon lost the first set of her #3 singles match 4-6, rallied to take the second 7-5, and lost the third 5-10 in a tiebreaker.
NOTABLES
Trinity now stands at 0-2 in in the early season, while St. Edward's improves to 2-0.
Hailey Feuer, a first-year transfer student-athlete, is sporting a 2-0 record in singles.

The Tigers open their Division III slate with a three-match trip to Santa Cruz, California. First up Saturday is #33 Chapman (CA) University at 8:00 a.m. PST. Trinity then takes on the host University of California-Santa Cruz at 2:00 p.m. the same day. The matches may be moved to indoor courts because of the forecast of rain.
