#19 Women's Tennis Beats Schreiner to Reach SCAC Final

Sherman, Texas – Trinity's 19th-ranked women's tennis team earned a 5-0 win over Schreiner (TX) University in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Semifinals on Saturday morning.

 

HIGHLIGHTS

The Tigers have reached the tournament final for the eighth consecutive season and will be seeking their 23rd overall SCAC Championship.

Trinity improved to 12-6 overall this season, including a 12-1 against Division III opponents.

The Tigers swept doubles to start the match, beginning with Andrea De Leon and Francesca Canjar winning at line three to improved to 4-0 this season.

Mary and Zoe Kaffen won their third consecutive doubles match, while Caroline Kutach and Megan Flores finished off the sweep to put Trinity ahead 3-0.

Kutach started singles with a straight-set victory at line one that marked her fifth consecutive win, giving her a record of 12-3 in singles play this season.

Zoe Kaffen won 6-0, 6-0 to clinch the match at #3 singles, improving to 9-5 on the year.

Trinity will face off against second-seeded Southwestern (TX) University for the SCAC Championship on Sunday at 9:00 a.m.
