Trinity Women's Tennis Rises to 17th in ITA Poll

San Antonio - The Trinity women's tennis team moved up two positions to a ranking of #17 by the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) NCAA Division III poll.

Led by fifth-year Head Coach Gretchen Rush, the Tigers went 4-0 in the two-week ITA ranking period. Included was a 5-2 victory over Southwestern (TX) University as Trinity won its eighth consecutive Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship.

Trinity stands at 13-6 overall and is 13-1 against NCAA Division III opponents. The Tigers remained ranked fourth in the ITA West Region.

Caroline Kutach is ranked ninth in West Region singles and has a 12-4 record on the top line. Ashley DeBauge is ranked 10th and is sporting a 10-5 singles record, with a 9-4 mark on the second line. Zoe Kaffen moved up to #18 from the 21st slot and is on a three-match win streak with a 10-5 record. She stands at 7-3 at #3 singles.

Kaffen and her sister, Mary, are sixth in the region in doubles. The Kaffens have won four matches in a row and have chalked up a 10-8 record on the top line.

Trinity received an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament by winning the conference title. The NCAA will make the official tournament selection on May 6.
