SAN ANTONIO - The Tigers Women's Swimming and Diving opened its season up after coming off of a Southern Collegiate Athletics Conference Championship in the 2021 Spring season. Trinity hosted Southwestern University in a dual where the women's squad raced to their first Dual win of the season. The Tigers defeated the Pirates by a score of 194-81.
First -year divers Victoria Nguyen (Portland, Ore. / Jesuit), Alexis Radhakrishnan (Lexington, Ky. / Paul Laurence Dunbar), and Brooklyn Fuscone (Hoffman Estates, Ill. / Hoffman Estates) made their collegiate debuts today. While Southwestern did not travel divers, Trinity used the opportunity to compete amongst themselves. Nguyen took first in the one-meter dive with a score of 279.10 while Gabi Fulk (Scottsdale, Ariz. / Horizon) took second with a score of 276.20.
In the three-meter dive, Fulk took first with a score of 226.00. Nguyen was close behind with a final score of 211.30.
The quartet of Mabel Fowler (Uvalde, Texas / Uvalde), Jadyn Trahan (League City, Texas / Clear Springs), Caroline Myers (Austin, Texas / Bowie), and Emma Hagan (Overland Park, Kan. / Olathe East) swam to a first-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay with a blazing time of 1:49.47. Fowler and Hagan then took the top two spots in the 200-yard freestyle. Fowler touched the wall with a time of 1:56.04 while Hagan was right behind her with a final time of 1:57.99.
Josie Gillentine (Heath, Texas / Rockwall Heath) sprinted to a first-place finish in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 31.32. Kara Moss (Houston, Texas / Stratford) took second in the same event with a speedy time of 32.36. Meyers was the first to touch the wall in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 59.73. Trahan and Logann Khollman rounded out the top-three in the 100-yard butterfly with times of 1:03.00 and 1:04.00.
Morgen Reyna (Houston, Texas / Stratford) finished in second-place in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.41 which was 20 milliseconds behind the first-place finisher. Reyna, Hagan, and Garcia also took the top-three spots in the 100-yard freestyle. Fowler also collected another first-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke.
Trahan collected her first individual first-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke. Blythe Iverson (Aurora, Colo. / Smoky Hill) won the 500-yard freestyle by pacing the pack of swimmers with a time of 5:25.78. Meyers also raced to touch the wall first in the 50-yard butterfly. Moss and Trahan took first and second in the 100-yard IM. The group of Fowler, Caroline, Reyna, and Hagan rounded out the afternoon for the women by touching the wall with a time of 1:39.10 in the 200-yard relay to finish in first.
