Box Score IRVING, Texas - The Trinity University cross country teams competed in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference championship meet Saturday morning on the campus of the University of Dallas.
The women's team secured it's fifth SCAC team title while the men collected the runner-up spot, extending it's streak of top-two team finishes to its ninth-straight season.
Senior Jordan Juran (Littleton, Colo. / Chatfield) captured the women's individual championship, pacing the conference field with a time of 21:48.1. This is the senior's fourth All-SCAC performance as she's finished ninth or better in every conference championship meet in her Tiger career.
Senior Abby Blackwood (Malibu, Calif. / Malibu) and first-year Ellie Catron (Spring, Texas / Woodlands Christian) rounded out the top-three spots finishing in just-over 22 minutes. Blackwood earned SCAC Newcomer of the Year in cross country for her effort Saturday morning.
"The ladies showed their depth today," said Head Coach Emily Daum. "I was so happy to see Jordan earn her first individual title and lead the team to victory."
Sophomore Ben Whittemore (Georgetown, Texas / Georgetown) was mere feet away from joining Juran atop the podium in the men's event, finishing in 26:36.1, within one second of Colorado College's Josh Fry.
Senior Keaton Holt (Portland, Ore. / Grant) and first-year Ryan Rager-Aguiar (Spring Hill, Tenn. / Independence) crossed the line fourth and eighth, respectively. Holt's time of 26 minutes, 47 seconds garnered his third All-SCAC performance along with his second SCAC Elite 19 Award; more to follow on this soon.
"Our men stayed focused the entire race and left it all out there," Daum continued. "I know this will leave them hungry for more come next fall."
The sophomore pair of Paige Tangney (Wilmette, Ill. / New Trier Township) and Lynzie Kutsner (Colorado Springs, Colo. / Rampart) rounded out Trinity's All-SCAC performances on Saturday, securing the ninth and 10th-place spots, respectively.
Saturday's performance marks Trinity's 10th team SCAC title, the sixth under the direction of Head Coach Emily Daum since the 2014 campaign. The Tigers have either won, or finished runner-up, in all of the last 18 SCAC Championship races dating back to the 2012 event.
