Box Score 2 LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The Trinity University women's tennis team secured recognition for three Tigers, the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference announced Tuesday, following its three-match road trip last weekend.
First-year Elodie Richard (Allen, Texas / Allen) landed her first career SCAC Singles Player of the Week award by going 3-0 in her solo matches at Hardin-Simmons University (No. 6 - 6-1, 6-1), at McMurry University (No. 3 - 6-1, 6-2) and at NCAA II Angelo State University (No. 6 - 6-4, 6-1).
The pair of junior Megan Flores (Houston, Texas / Clear Lake) and first-year Cate Cushing (Colleyville, Texas / Colleyville Heritage) collected the SCAC Doubles Team of the Week award by aiding the Tigers to a pair of doubles sweeps at Hardin-Simmons (No. 2 - 8-1) and at McMurry (No. 2 - 8-2). Cushing also captured a pair of singles victories in those same matches, from the third and second lines, respectively while Flores notched a line-one victory at McMurry.
This is the first SCAC recognition for Richard and Cushing, both of whom made their intercollegiate debut in January. Tuesday's conference announcement marked the third time Flores has been bestowed the SCAC weekly doubles honor, fourth weekly honor overall.
Trinity Women's Tennis is tentatively scheduled to host a pair of matches next week: NCAA II St. Mary's University (TX) Monday, Feb. 15 and NCAA I University of the Incarnate Word Saturday, Feb. 20. The preceding match with the Rattlers is pending inclement weather forecasted for Monday in the San Antonio area.
