Box Score 2 SAN ANTONIO - Trinity University Women's Tennis was handed a 7-2 defeat at the hands of NCAA II Texas A&M University-Kingsville Saturday afternoon at the Butch Newman Tennis Center.
The Rundown
The Tigers looked to keep pace early as the second-line duo of junior Megan Flores (Houston, Texas / Clear Lake) and first-year Cate Cushing (Colleyville, Texas / Colleyville Heritage) posted a strong 8-2 score in an even response to the defeat suffered in line one play.
Trinity nearly captured No. 3 doubles also as senior Paulina Garcia (San Antonio, Texas / The Episcopal School of Texas) and first-year Elodie Richard (Allen, Texas / Allen) scrapped to an 8-7 defeat.
Senior Zoe Kaffen (San Juan Capistrano, Calif. / Jserra Catholic) tallied a 6-3, 6-3 score as the Tigers's lone singles victory, though the tone set by the Garcia-Richard duo spilled over into the individual side of the lineup. Cushing and Richard each pushed their matches to three sets; the No. 3 singles matchup needed a staggering 12-10 tiebreaker to decide Cushing's 7-6 second set.
