The second quarter began with four unanswered points by St. Thomas and the Tigers were held scoreless for more than five minutes. That sparked a 13-2 run to finish the quarter for the Tigers, capped by Milton's layup with under a minute to play for a 35-20 lead. Trinity held St. Thomas to just six points in the period and the Celts did not make a basket over the final 8:32 of the half.

Trinity blew the game open in the third quarter, extending the lead to 20 points just 75 seconds into the period. The lead was still 20 points with under four minutes to go in the period, but the Tigers scored eight of the final 10 points to take a 60-34 lead heading into the final quarter. Bailey Timmons (Argyle, Texas / Argyle) nailed a pair of three-pointers during the run, including the final points with under a minute remaining.

The final period began with an 11-2 run by the Tigers, resulting in a 35-point lead with just under five minutes remaining in the game. The lead was 30 or more points the rest of the game until St. Thomas scored in the final seconds to finish off the game.

Coach Speak

"Lots of people see Cameron and I playing racquetball, tennis, or disc golf and think that we are just messing around," said Assistant Coach Joe Shotland. "but if you've ever seen The Karate Kid, you know that not all activities are what they seem. Our sensei has taught us everything that we need to know so that we can be successful. Tonight, we adapted very well to the unexpected in order to take care of the task at hand."

Up Next

Trinity will host Colorado College on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. to close out the conference weekend at home.
