Box Score 2 SAN ANTONIO - The Tigers softball team fought hard but lost to a scrappy Babson College team in today's early morning doubleheader. The Beavers improve to 4-2 while Trinity falls to 0-10. Despite sprinkling seven hits throughout game two, the Tigers were unable to drive a run in.
First-year Jessica Lloyd (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif. / Trabuco Hills) went 3-4 with two doubles in game two while first-year Sydney Watson (San Antonio, Texas / San Antonio Christian) broke up the no-hitter in game one with a bunt for a base hit in the third inning. Junior Emery Boettcher (Fredericksburg, Texas / Fredericksburg) started in the circle for both games and tossed 10 innings on the day.
Game One Rundown
The Beavers struck first and scored two runs in the first inning on two hits. Babson then extended their lead to 3-0 in the top of the third. The Tigers went three-up three-down the first two innings. Watson led off the bottom of the third with a bunt for a base hit but was later thrown out at second while attempting to steal.
Both teams remained quiet until the fifth inning. Babson broke the game open with a five-spot to extend their lead to 8-0. Due to the run rule, Trinity had to score one or more runs in the fifth to keep the game going but the Tigers were retired in order.
Game Two Rundown
Lloyd led off the bottom of the first with a double to centerfield but was later thrown out at third. Sophomore Marina Delaluna (Concord, Calif. / Concord) reached on an error in that same inning but was left stranded. Boettcher held the Beavers at bay for the first two innings to keep the game knotted at 0-0 heading into the top of the third. Babson tallied the first run of game two in the third inning. Lloyd hit a double that ricocheted off of the left-field wall. First-year Leah Gonzalez (San Antonio, Texas / East Central) was called on to pinch run and advanced to third but was left on base to keep the score 1-0 in favor of Babson.
The Beavers added another run in the fourth inning and the Tigers tried to respond but ultimately left a runner on third again. Over the remainder of the game, the Beavers added five more runs while Trinity struggled to string together enough hits to bring runners in. Trinity ended up drooping game two 7-0.

The Tigers will look to bounce back in a two-game series against the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. TU and UMHG will be making up the game that was postponed this Saturday due to the weather. Trinity will host The Cru on Monday, February 28th at 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM in the final series before conference play gets underway.
