CLAREMONT, Calif. - No. 19 Trinity University Women's Tennis wrapped up its weekend trip to the Los Angeles area Sunday with an 8-1 mark ceded to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center.
The first-year duo of Olivia Kim (Phoenix, Ariz. / Desert Mountain) and Ruth Hill (Abilene, Texas / Abilene) put together another strong performance from the second line of doubles action with a 7-4 mark to break the tie for an 8-7 victory.
A second doubles point was nearly secured by the line-one pair of senior Megan Flores (Houston, Texas / Clear Lake) and sophomore Cate Cushing (Colleyville, Texas / Colleyville Heritage) as they battled into a draw at 7-7 as well, but fell in a mirror score to line two.
First-year Jenna Lee (San Clemente, Calif. / Jserra Catholic) scored a first-set victory in individual action from the sixth line but could not hold on to the momentum, falling in a third-set superbreaker.
No. 19 Trinity Women's Tennis remains on the road next weekend with a visit to NCAA I Air Force Academy on Saturday, followed by the first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match at Colorado College on Sunday.
The Tigers return home Saturday, March 12 to host McMurry University for the first of eight straight home matches in the month of March.
